So you’ve been accepted in to University, now it’s time to think about packing. It may only be July but don’t under estimate how much stuff you’ve actually got, the time it takes to organise and pack, and buying extras you’ve never had to before as you’re about to live independently!
Here’s an essential list broken down for you!
Electronics
- Laptop & Charger
- Phone & Charger
- Hair styling tools – dryer, straightener, curlers
- USB stick
- External hard drive (this is essential for backing up your uni work, just in case your laptop breaks)
- Extension leads
- Cable adapters
Academic Items
- Journal/diary
- Pens and highlighters
- Notebook
- Sticky notes
- Stapler
- Folder and plastic wallets
- Sellotape
When it comes to academic books, you’re probably best off waiting until your course starts to buy them. Your tutor will probably give you a reading list of journals that will benefit your studies throughout your course, and where to buy them. ”You’ll quickly learn that you can find many of them in the library for free, or you could even borrow/share them with your course-mates. Moreover, many universities hold second-hand book fairs in which students in the years above can sell their textbooks to new students.” (Credit: UniBaggage)
