Chester's History

The beautiful Roman city of Chester (originally known as Deva) is a historically unique area of the United Kingdom. You can see the remnants of this period in the wonderful sandstone walls surrounding the city, as well as the largest known military amphitheatre recently restored in the centre of town.

As you move across the city, you’ll notice enormous diversity in the striking architecture. Whilst many of the medieval structures still stand including the amazing ruins of St John’s church, there are also the picturesque wattle and daub Tudor buildings peppered across the city centre.

The majority of the Chester Student Lets houses are converted Victorian properties, many with large bay windows and high ceilings. Where it’s possible to do so, we try to keep some of these distinctive features in the properties, so keep your eyes peeled for original Victorian tiles and staircases.

There are hundreds of hidden treasures to be explored across the city, take a look below at Cool Places To Go.
