As the new year has quickly approached, everyone has their new year resolutions on their mind whether it’s saving, working hard on the ‘new year, new me’ diet or improving grades. We all want 2018 to bring us fortune, happiness and love.
Sometimes, after a few months we loose track of our goals and forget what we set out to achieve at the beginning! January 1st seems the perfect date to start a fresh, so once this date has passed we can feel like we have to wait for another December 31st to re-do our wrongs the second time round…
However, don’t fret! We are here to provide you with tips on how to dodge that repetitive cycle.
1. Create a mood board
This presents all of your goals right in front of you, clearly in one space. A mood board will help remind you of where you want to be/how you want to achieve your goal step-by-step. If your new years’ resolution is to be more organised, this is already a step in the right direction! Fab!
2. Analyse
Is this goal realistic? Is it too far fetched? If so, simplify as much as you can to make your journey as achievable as possible. It’s good to challenge yourself, but don’t push too hard out of your depth.
3. Start in the morning
If starting early works hand in hand with your resolution (e.g. Jogging, gym, physical exercise) it’s best to do it first thing in a morning. Grab yourself some breakfast, get out and stay hydrated. This way you can get it out of the way and carry on with the rest of the day without distractions or procrastination. Tell yourself ”I need to do this. I’m going to do this.” It may be hard to have the motivation at first, but we can promise once it’s done, you’ll feel good about yourself. Hard work pays off.
4. Keep track of your progress through diaries/planners/charts
This will help you monitor your ups and downs over time so you can track if any lifestyle changes, workload, budgeting etc. are having an effect on your goal and what you can do to change it.
