Everyone loves an interesting random fact you never knew before! You’ll be surprised at what you’ll learn giving these 10 a read…
1. Zip line travel to school
In a remote area of Colombia known as the Los Pinos, kids have to travel to school via zip line as the rain forest below is so dense. If for whatever reason they can’t use the zip-line, they’d have to walk through the rain forest for 2 hours before they reach their destination! What a fun way to travel, don’t you think?
Check out this Daily Mail article published about it back in 2010.
2. In Switzerland, it’s illegal to own just 1 Guinea Pig
Guinea Pigs are very social animals, so to own just 1 of them without a friend is considered abuse in Switzerland. Fair play!
3. A small child could swim through the veins of a blue whale

8. Human thigh bones are stronger than concrete
The proper name is ‘Femur’ and is the largest and strongest bone in the human body. To break this bone takes some serious force, and comes along with excruciating pain.
A break of the Femur was once featured on an episode of 24 Hours in A&E. A teenage boy broke it whilst playing a game of football, and had to be sedated with Ketamine to calm him down.
In some cases, a full recovery can not be made and the victim can suffer from chronic leg pain/issues due to the injury.
9. Beetles taste like apples, wasps like pine nuts, and worms like fried bacon
10. A woman once jumped off the Empire State Building and survived…
Our last fact on the list is possibly the most extraordinary.
On December 2nd 1979, Elvita Adams, a 29 year old woman, attempted suicide by jumping off the 86th floor of the Empire State building. She was saved by a gust of wind that blew her back on to the 85th floor! She suffered from a minor fracture to her hip.
A rare miracle of luck.
