All about the Garden Quarter

Sub Title

This popular, bustling area is made up of Parkgate Road, Cheyney Road, Garden Lane and Bouverie Street, with smaller roads including Denbigh Street, Henshall Street and Louise Street.

The area gets its name from the eponymous Garden Lane, a road that really encapsulates what it’s like to be a student in Chester – namely a chilled out atmosphere with plenty of things to do on your days off. Also the street where we’re based!

Big and spacious Victorian houses on can be found on Bouverie Street. In the Garden Quarter you’ll have plenty of space to relax with your friends. But equally if you’re looking for something more modern, Cheyney Road and Garden Lane have lots of newly refurbished houses.

When the sun’s out (which doesn’t happen too often in Chester, so you need to make the most of it) the Garden Quarter offers some excellent options to have a drink or a meal. Take your pick from the Chichester Arms, The Bouverie or maybe the Goat and Munch for an easy night out within walking distance.

You know when you don’t fancy going out or you’ve got nothing in the house? Well the Garden Quarter has got you covered in that department too. Just get a quick bite to eat from one of the several takeaways available down the road. For burgers, kebabs and pizzas why not try Unikebab & Pizza, Garden Lane Pizza or Uni Chicken? For fish and chips or Chinese food, the River Queen is the place to go.

Even if you’re not studying on Parkgate Road Campus, Kingsway is a 25 minute walk away, Queens Park campus is a 20 minute walk away and Riverside is a scenic 15 minute stroll down river.
